چکیده

Consider a fully connected network of nodes, some of which have a piece of data to be disseminated to the whole network. We analyze the following push-type epidemic algorithm: in each push round, every node that has the data, i.e., every infected node, randomly chooses c other nodes in the network and transmits, i.e., pushes, the data to them. We write this round dynamically as a random walk whose each step corresponds to a random selection of one of the infected nodes, which gives an efficient way of representing the distribution of the result of each round. We use this to compute the expected number of rounds so that a given percentage of the network is infected and continue a numerical comparison of the push algorithm and the pull algorithm (where the susceptible nodes randomly choose peers) initiated in an earlier work. We then derive the fluid and diffusion limits of the random walk as the network size goes to ∞ and derive a number of properties of the push algorithm: 1) the number of newly infected nodes in a push round, and the number of random selections needed so that a given percent of the network is infected, are both asymptotically normal 2) for large networks, starting with a nonzero proportion of infected nodes, a pull round infects slightly more nodes on average 3) the number of rounds until a given proportion λ of the network is infected converges to a constant for almost all λ ∈ (0, 1). Numerical examples for all of the theoretical results are provided.

Comparative Analysis of Information Dissemination Capabilities of Media and Social Networks

Background and Aim: Human Knowledge depends on data and information that is emerged and transffered from different channels. The dessimination process is different from type, form of transfer, and distribution based on information or awareness. This survey compares the librarians and information scienctist’s information transferring capabilities in mass media and social networks. Methods: This ...

Buffer Occupancy and Delivery Reliability Tradeoffs for Epidemic Routing

To achieve end-to-end delivery in intermittently connected networks, epidemic routing is proposed for data delivery at the price of excessive buffer occupancy due to its store-and-forward nature. The ultimate goal of epidemic routing protocol design is to reduce system resource usage (e.g., buffer occupancy) while simultaneously providing data delivery with statistical guarantee. Therefore the ...

Push-over analysis of concrete gravity dams due to flood inflow

This study numerically predicts the failure scenario of a cracked concrete gravity dam through a push-over nonlinear analysis. The mixed-mode Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics (LEFM) was employed using the extended finite element method (XFEM). The dam base was considered to be fully fixed without any foundation effects. The hydrostatic pressure on the dam's upstream face was increased incremen...

Estimation of Network Reliability for a Fully Connected Network with Unreliable Nodes and Unreliable Edges using Neuro Optimization

In this paper it is tried to estimate the reliability of a fully connected network of some unreliable nodes and unreliable connections (edges) between them. The proliferation of electronic messaging has been witnessed during the last few years. The acute problem of node failure and connection failure is frequently encountered in communication through various types of networks. We know that a ne...

M1, M2, ..., Mk/G1, G2,..., Gk/l/N Queue with Buffer Division and Push-Out Schemes for ATM Networks (RESEARCH NOTE)

In this paper, loss probabilities and steady state probabilities of data packets for an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network are investigated under the buffer division and push-out schemes. Data packets are classified in classes k which arrive in Poisson fashion to the service facility and are served with general service rate under buffer division scheme, finite buffer space N is divided in...
